Gefitinib tablets are used primarily to treat non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). They work by blocking a specific protein (tyrosine kinase) that promotes the growth of cancer cells, thereby slowing or stopping their growth. Gefitinib is typically prescribed for patients whose tumors have specific mutations in the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR).
